Advocis has launched an emerging leaders committee to help support membership growth.

In a release on Wednesday, the national association for financial advisors said the new emerging leaders committee, which comprises early- and mid-career financial advisors, was part of its “broader strategic commitment to fostering long-term member engagement and generational continuity.”

The committee will serve as a critical advisory group, the release said, providing new perspectives, identifying the challenges and opportunities that new professionals face, and helping to find ways to elevate the financial advice profession.

The emerging leaders committee includes:

  • Laurent Munier, a financial advisor with Safe Pacific Financial Inc. in Vancouver;
  • Amanda McCloy, an estate and insurance advisor with BMO Private Wealth in Edmonton;
  • Cory Gergulich, a managing partner with Crescent Financial Group in Winnipeg;
  • Naunidh (Nona) Hunjan, president of Hunjan Financial Group Inc. in Mississauga, Ont.;
  • Cindy Marques, a financial planner with Open Access Ltd. in Toronto; and
  • Natasha Thompson, an associate financial advisor with Co-operators in Fredericton

“This committee was created to ensure the next generation of financial advisors have a voice in shaping the future of our association,” Kelly Gorman, president and CEO of Advocis, said in the release. “These individuals bring fresh perspectives, energy and valuable experience that will help guide Advocis forward as we continue to evolve to meet the changing needs of our members.”

Gorman, who was appointed CEO in September, said in an interview earlier this year that increasing membership and chartered life underwriter designation holders were among Advocis’ priorities. The association has about 4,300 full dues–paying members. In addition to the new advisory committee, the growth strategy includes an online members’ forum and designation promotion through thought leadership.

Also this month, Advocis announced that it appointed a new board chair, Curtis Kimpton, and new board members.
