John B. MacIntyre has been appointed chair of TD Bank, effective Sept. 1. MacIntyre joined the board as an independent director in 2023, will be replacing long-time director and current chair Alan MacGibbon, who in January had said he would step down from the board by the end of the year. MacIntyre is the retired partner-emeritus of Birch Hill Capital Partners, which he co-founded in 2005. TD’s board renewal also involves replacing several other members of the board who were appointed before 2020, while a new CEO, Raymond Chun took over in February. The moves came in the wake of TD’s anti-money laundering failings and a US$3.1-billion fine imposed last year by U.S. authorities.

David Arpin, senior vice-president and co-lead of the Mackenzie Bluewater Team at Mackenzie Investments will retire at the end of the year. Arpin, who’s also a portfolio manager, joined Mackenzie Investments in 2000. Tyler Hewlett, senior vice-president and portfolio manager, has been tapped to succeed Arpin, effective Jan. 1, 2026, and will lead the Mackenzie Bluewater team alongside current co-leader Shah Khan, also a senior VP and portfolio manager. Hewlett, with more than two decades of industry experience, was managing director and head of Canadian growth equities with BMO Asset Management Canada before joining Mackenzie in 2022.

David Gunn, president of Edward Jones Canada since 2018, has taken on added responsibility as head of the firm’s U.S. and Canada business units. Gunn has been with the firm for more than 25 years, starting his career as a financial advisor. Scott Sullivan has been named principal, Canada business segment leader, after serving as head of Canadian Wealth management advice & solutions, among other roles. Sullivan has two decades of industry experience, and joined Edward Jones in 2019 from TD, where his last role was as vice-president, wealth products & services.

Jason Alcorn has been named chair of the Canadian Securities Administrators’ (CSA) Investor Advisory Panel, effective Sept. 1. He replaces Eric Spink, whose term as chair ends Aug. 31. Alcorn, an associate professor with the Faculty of Law at the Université de Moncton, has been a member of the panel since 2022. Sophie Jean, a securities lawyer with experience at Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) and a member of the panel since 2023, became vice-chair in November.
